Manchester United have suffered another blow during their horror start to the season with Casemiro picking up a fresh injury.

The Brazilian started for the Red Devils in their 3-0 defeat to Newcastle in midweek that ended their hopes of defending their Carabao Cup crown.

The former Real Madrid midfielder had only just returned from a three-game absence due to a separate minor injury issue.

But now it seems as though Erik ten Hag will have to be without his £60million signing as United return to action against Fulham.

Casemiro will NOT be available at Craven Cottage after the club confirmed that he would be sidelined for an extended period.

United revealed that Casemiro suffered the problem during the first half of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup humbling defeat by Newcastle.

The Brazil international, who had already been booked, was then withdrawn at the break at Old Trafford due to the issue.

Fans hoping for a more positive update on his condition have been left disappointed.

United have now confirmed that a hamstring strain will keep him out for ‘several weeks’.

Casemiro had only just returned from an injury he sustained on international duty that sidelined him for the three games prior to the Newcastle loss.

The 3-0 Manchester derby defeat to rivals Man City last weekend was the first Premier League match he had not started all season.

Despite his drop-off in form, Casemiro is still remarkably the club’s top scorer in all competitions this season with four goals.

His latest absence is a hammer blow to manager Ten Hag, who is desperate for a positive result against Fulham on Saturday.

The Dutchman is under mounting pressure after his side have lost eight of their opening 15 games this season.

Ten Hag is also without a number of key stars, with Luke Shaw, Amad Diallo, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez all in the treatment room.

Raphael Varane has been suffering from a bout of illness while Jadon Sancho remains isolated due to a public fallout with Ten Hag.
