FT: LEEDS 1-0 BURNLEY
Leeds and Burnley’s first ever Premier League match ends with the Whites prevailing.
The hosts opened the scoring just five minutes after kick-off thanks to Patrick Bamford’s penalty kick.
Bamford earned the spot-kick after being brought down by Nick Pope inside the box.
Leeds dominated throughout the first half but were lucky to go back to the dressing room with a clean sheet.
Illan Meslier lunged onto Ben Mee in his bid to clear a high ball before Ashley Barnes gained possession and fired a shot behind the net.
But the referee claimed Mee fouled Meslier at the build-up, which was a rather controversial call.
Burnley then controlled tempo in the second half but failed to reach the equaliser.
