Liverpool are keeping tabs on Eduardo Camavinga’s situation at Real Madrid as he is reportedly frustrated with game time under Carlo Ancelotti.
The 19-year-old joined Los Blancos on deadline day in the 2021 summer transfer window for €40million [£33.5m], but has been unable to become a regular in Spain so far.
Spanish outlet El Nacional are reporting that Jurgen Klopp is able to offer him more game time in central midfield, especially after the departure of one of their influential players, Georginio Wijnaldum.
Given that the 13-time Champions League winners boast some of the best players in the world in that position it was always going to be a tall order for Camavinga.
Experienced trio Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro, are all starting ahead of him but when either one of those three players do not start or are substituted, Ancelotti has opted to use Uruguay’s Federico Valverde.
Since signing for the Primera Division leaders, Camavinga has started just eight games in all competitions this season scoring once.
Interestingly, Liverpool were also reportedly keen on him before he moved to Spain from boyhood Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.
Given his age, Camavinga needs regular game time if he is to fulfil his potential and could do that Anfield, especially with Klopp’s current midfield situation.
Wijnaldum was not replaced last summer and James Milner is expected to leave upon the expiration of his contract, leaving room for a signing.
Meamwhile, injury prone players such as Thiago, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, have caused issues for Klopp too.
A deal for Camavinga would be quite hard to pull of though for Liverpool as the report states that Real Madrid have no intention of letting him go after just one season.
Crucially, Liverpool are not in a hurry to sign him and could wait a few years when he would still be very young and more obtainable, if he doesn’t sign a new contract with the club.
